| We bought this bus
almost three years ago from a guy who used it as one of his fleet of bar
shuttle busses in Oklahoma. We did a lot to it...
put new air bags in the front suspension
replaced the tires,
fixed a few small things
built a steel & Lexan partition behind the driver
replaced the radio
added a blue neon light the the interior
We used it as a bar shuttle for the
students at Bradley University. We also rented it out for parties, ball
games, concerts...
In the past few years, we have
replaced tires as needed w/ used tires from a local tire store. A couple of
them are about wore out. I bought them for $55ish each. I am sure you could
do the same.
Bradley University is on top of a hill
with bars at the bottoms of the hills, so I have replaced the front brake
pads, calipers and very recently the rotors. The rear brakes have received
shoes and brake cylinders, but the drums will probably need replaced the
next time you replace the shoes.
The bus was hit by a drunk driver a
couple years ago which dented the front passenger quarter and doors. It also
bent some things in the front end, so several control arm bushings & ball
joints were replaced at that time. So, the front end is in pretty good
shape.
The engine is a 454 gasoline Chevy
motor. It runs great. Leaks a little oil, but uses less than a quart per oil
change. The transmission has a rebuilt tag on it. I imagine that swap was
performed by the Atlanta airport that originally owned it. I think they also
replaced the steering box as there are some access holes cut behind the
bumper.
The air conditioners do not blow cold.
As a matter of fact, the compressors were removed when the water pump was
replaced in January of this year. |
